I don’t mean to jump into dorky fan boy mode right now, but Patrick Stump(h) recently posted lyrics on his website for what one can only assume is the first single off of his upcoming solo record, Soul Punk…AND THEY ARE BRILLIANT

I don’t want to give him too much praise or to overstate things, but I’d say they are damn near close to Pete Wentz quality lyrics. And that’s saying a lot coming for me. 

I can’t tell you how excited I am for the release of this album. I’ve always been a huge fan of Pat and have so much respect for him and his insane musical abilities. It’s been a while since I’ve been this excited for a record. Thus far all I’ve heard is a few rough quality live clips from a showcase he did at SXSW. So for the most part, I’ve got no idea what this record is going to sound like. But according to Pat, “the wait will be worth it”.

I believe him. The first track is apparently going to be a song called “Spotlight” and I assume that these are some of the lyrics from it.

I’m dying for it to drop.
